AKC breeds lists provide a large amount of information about approximately 150 different breeds of dog. They also provide a breeder list of recommended dog breeders and breeding specialist clubs.

The American Kennel Club or AKC stores information on over 150 breeds of dog including Terrier, Toy, Dachhund and some of the more rare breeds. Their lists of recognised breeds show information relating to the breed's appearance and most impressive features aswell as the areas which will let it down in a competition or dog show. Information such as this gives a dog breeder an idea of what type and appearance of dog they need to look for when entering an animal into one of the competitions.

Miscellaneous
Depending on the breed of dog will determine which group it belongs to.

When a litter of puppies are born from a pure bred female dog they are generally registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC), this gives the owner a record of the puppies and their breed which they can later use as proof of AKC breeds when it comes to selling the puppies to the new owners. This will also allow the new owners to have a record of their dog once it has been registered with the AKC breeds.
